Winter is a tough time to have car problems. Being stuck on the side of the road in winter conditions is definitely not fun. Here are a few winter vehicle safety tips to better prepare you for the season’s problems.
Check the Spare
Check the tire pressure of your spare tire to make sure it is ready for action if called upon this winter. If you happen to run into a flat tire, you want to make sure your spare tire is ready for action, or else you will be stuck out in the cold waiting for help.
Emergency Kit
Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle just in case the unexpected happens out on the road. Keep a blanket, bottled water, snacks, extra clothes, flashlight, jumper cables, ice scraper, toolkit, car jack, medication, and a first aid kit in your vehicle. Be prepared for any situation.
Gas Tank
Keep your gas tank at least ½ full. Moisture can form on the side of the gas tank and mix with the gas in your tank. If the moisture gets in the gas lines, it can freeze and block the flow of fuel to your engine, which will stall your engine and leave you stranded. In order to fight this, keep your tank at least ½ full of gas, which will significantly decrease the chance that moisture will get into your gas tank.
