When District Manger, Rodney Brown, recommended that Elvis Kpodo be featured in our next blog, we couldn’t wait to get an interview scheduled.
According to Rod, “Elvis is a true representation of the American Dream. He was born in Ghana and still has grown children that live there. Elvis came to this country, did what he had to do, and became an American citizen. He has worked hard and has been a great asset to our Jiffy Lube family of associates.”
Q: Tell us a little about when you moved to the United States and when you started working for Jiffy Lube.
A: I moved here and started working for the automotive industry in 1992. In 1994 is when I started working at Jiffy Lube.
Q: What is your current position at Jiffy Lube?
A: I am the General Manager at the Jiffy Lube on West 38th Street. My everyday responsibilities include hiring new associates, training and coaching employees, and making sure customers are satisfied. If I have recently hired new people, I’m specifically focused on training and ensuring they understand our policies and procedures that we follow.
Q: Have you been back to visit Ghana lately?
A: I actually just returned from a visit about a month ago. I was able to spend two weeks there.
Q: Why would you recommend Jiffy Lube to customers?
A: Jiffy Lube is the best place to take your vehicle for preventative maintenance. We don’t fix problems, we prevent them in the first place. A vehicle is a big investment for any American Citizen and it’s always better to maintain it. It’s better to prevent problems, than to pay for repairs later.
Thanks to Elvis for all his hard work and for letting us get to know him a little better. Next time you’re on West 38th Street, stop by Jiffy Lube and thank Elvis for doing such a fantastic job of caring for his guests and their vehicles.
