Collaboration Between the Department of Public Words and Jiffy Lube of Indiana

Collaboration Between the Department of Public Words and Jiffy Lube of IndianaJiffy Lube of Indiana is collaborating with the Department of Public Words to create murals on the exterior of their buildings using the theme “Every Part Matters.”

The murals will be designed by Indianapolis-area artists and facilitated by the Department of Public Words. In a community-wide effort, artists are invited to submit their designs to the Department of Public Words for consideration as one of the six winning designs. Jiffy Lube and Pennzoil are proving the funding to make this unique project possible.

Once designed, the murals will be painted in different locations around Indianapolis, including at the Jiffy Lube-sponsored Megaticket Luke Bryan concert in July, by Jiffy Lube of Indiana employees, friends, family, and anyone who feels inspired to pick up a paintbrush and contribute.

Collaboration Between the Department of Public Words and Jiffy Lube of Indiana“When owner Steve Sanner told us about Jiffy Lube’s vision of Growing People Through Work, we knew we should work together. Our missions align beautifully. Jiffy Lube has wonderful walls on which to showcase the incredible work of local artists using positive words to empower people, and that is what we love to do,” says Holly Combs of the Department of Public Words.

“Since 1985, Jiffy Lube of Indiana has been committed to Growing People Through Work and to being valued contributors to our communities”, explained Jiffy Lube owner Steve Sanner. “This project with DPWords will become a source of pride for our people and for the communities in which we do business.” Sanner added with a smile, “We think there is an outside chance that people will be surprised that Jiffy Lube and public art will be used in the same sentence.”
