What Does it Take to Become a Jiffy Lube Technician?

What does it take to be a Jiffy Lube technician?

Jiffy Lube of Indiana is an excellent place to start or even, jumpstart, a career in the automotive industry.

However, the training required to become a certified Jiffy Lube technician often surprises people. Discipline, time management, and integrity are just a few of our key values. The Jiffy Lube University program stands above, not just competitors, but also is one of the best training programs in the country – across all industries. It has helped thousands of individuals build long-lasting, fulfilling careers.

To help you get a better appreciation of the employee investment that goes into creating our Jiffy Lube certified technicians, we’ve outlined a few of the training’s key components.

Education Worthy of College Credit
Every Jiffy Lube of Indiana employee is required to complete and pass Jiffy Lube University—a curriculum so comprehensive that you can actually earn college credit. It has the feel of an online university, using gaming technology and “Virtual Garage” simulations along with instructor-led classes to provide an interesting and engaging learning environment.

Rigorous Professional Service Instruction
The first eight hours trainees spend at Jiffy Lube are focused solely on providing outstanding service to our guests. That’s because we hold ourselves to exceptionally high standards in both customer service as well as technical automotive skills. All employees must pass computer-based course modules and a hands-on proficiency exam.

Beyond motor oil, we also provide education in additional preventive maintenance services, including brakes, tires, steering and suspension, engine diagnostics, and drive train.

Personal Development & Support
Training from Jiffy Lube focuses on more than just professional skills. The personal development employees receive, serves them well no matter where their career paths lead. Our commitment to Growing People Through Work includes:

  • Financial Planning, Wellness, and Attitude Seminars
  • Tuition reimbursement for management candidates
  • Home buying initiative for managers
  • College scholarships for the children of J-Team members
  • Strict drug testing

Going Beyond Entry-Level Positions
In addition to fulfilling the maintenance needs of our guests, we are also in the business of developing leaders. Professionally, our associates become Jiffy Lube certified and some go on to become ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified. The fact that the average length of manager service is over ten years is a testament to our focus on investing in our people. Examples of our leadership development programs include 14 e-learning courses, a three-day Leadership Training instructor-led class, and a Leadership Challenge simulation.

Jiffy Lube of Indiana is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for a career, not just a job. We mentor our associates so they will grow personally at the same time as professionally.
