Turn apple picking into an all-day affair with hayrides, bamboo mazes, live music, and multiple acres of pumpkins, squashes, and gourds. Apple Works boasts more than fifty varieties of apples and greets you with cold apple cider on arrival. Once your belly is full, head to the farm animal exhibit to spend time with the ponies, goats, and chickens.

Reenactment of Battle of Tippecanoe – Battle Ground, IN

Saturday, November 9, 2019,10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

This year marks the 208th anniversary of the Battle of Tippecanoe. American forces led by Governor William Henry Harrison fought against Indian forces associated with Shawnee leader Tecumseh and his brother Tenskwatawa in opposition to the settlement of the American West. It all happened right here in Battle Ground, Indiana, in 1811. 

Visit the Tippecanoe Battlefield and Museum to commemorate the battle with living historian talks and demonstrations including musket firing and a look into how Harrison’s army may have looked in 1811. The park also includes picnic grounds, hiking trails, and the Wah-ba-shik-a Nature Center.

Halloween Hike – Mooresville, IN

Thursday, October 31, 2019, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

The Halloween Hike is a community tradition in Mooresville, Indiana that serves approximately 900 children and their families. Delight in a one-mile walk around Pioneer Park while meeting fun characters and enjoying treats from 20+ stations set up along the trail run by local businesses and organizations. Don’t miss the marshmallow ghost roast and hayride. This event is free and for children ages 10 and under.

Haunted Places to Visit

State Historic Site Real Haunted – Corydon, IN

Saturday, October 26 8:00 PM & 9:30 PM

Did you know Corydon was once the capital of Indiana? A lantern-guided tour will take you through history-rich spooky locations of historic downtown. Participants will explore the Capitol and the Governor’s Mansion and hear from staff as they tell their unexplained stories of the 200-year-old buildings. Tickets are $15.00 a person and are known to sell out quickly.

Drive the Ohio River Scenic Byway – Multiple Locations

There are 303 miles of gorgeous rolling hills waiting for you in Southern Indiana. The entire Ohio River Scenic Byway is a total of 967 miles through Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Stop into charming Indiana towns like Vevay, Madison, and Newburgh along the way. These historic towns offer beautiful views of the river along with antiques, artisans, and quaint restaurants.

Fall Foliage Flyer – Connersville, IN

This special fall train excursion runs every Thursday and Friday in October. It departs from the Connersville station and takes you through the Whitewater River Valley to historic Metamora. During the two-hour layover, you can visit a working grist mill, restored canal and lock, replica horse-drawn canal boat, and cute shops and restaurants.

Round trip fares for this train are $25 for adults and $15 for children. One way fares are $16 for adults and $9 for children.
